Halloween

Image
The girls were a fashion designer and Tinkerbell this year. People can probably guess who was the fashion designer. After initial shock at pulling together a costume, Shreya and I had a fun few outings searching for outfits. The rain held out so we enjoyed trick or treating with friends in our neighbourhood and as has become tradition ran out of sweets to hand out pretty early on in the evening! Another day, another tooth gone

Image
These teeth are falling out pretty rapidly and the tooth fairy may go out of business pretty soon especially since she is sponsored by Nehal. For the moment we are enjoying the toothless grin.

Fall Festival

Image
As has now become tradition with the annual school Fall Festival, the weather was freezing (relatively speaking given this is California). With face painting, games, bouncy house and pizza on offer, the girls managed to survive!

Diwali

Image
One of my most favourite times of the year and I think I say that every year when I write about it. The girls embrace everything about it which makes it feel particularly special. Prepping for rangoli designs Finished products on our doorstep Probably the highlight for the girls  Shreya helping me with a talk on Diwali for Sahana's class

Orange October

Image
It is October and it is an even number year which means the SF Giants must be in the world series. While we are clearly not die hard baseball fans it is hard not to get swept up in the euphoria which comes with the local team winning their 3rd world series in 5 years. We look forward to jumping on the bandwagon in 2016. Shirts came in handy for the numerous 'Giants' days at school Nehal was lucky enough to attend one of the post season games

Off the Grid

Image
After biking in Golden Gate park this morning we made our way to the Presidio to enjoy a picnic lunch at the Off the Grid food trucks. The views are pretty spectacular and the food isn't too bad either. Shreya with Chester Off the Grid at the Presidio enjoying the fresh air Catching up with Nehal's cousins and their kids

Chester makes a vist

Image
Each weekend one of the students in Shreya's class gets to take the class mascot, Chester, home as a reward for great behaviour. The lucky student then has to prepare a journal on what they did with Chester and also gets chance to tell the class more about themselves on the following Monday. This weekend Chester came home with Shreya. Sahana seemed more enamoured with Chester than anyone else Journal entry

Happy birthday Noor

Image
We were out celebrating Shreya's friend, Noor's, birthday this afternoon. Bubbles and a bouncy house was pretty much a perfect combination for the girls. Girls with Nehal's parents Shreya with the birthday girl

Arjun turns 6

Image
This year we were at a pumpkin patch to celebrate Arjun turning 6. The kids had fun running around the patch in spite of the heat. Unfortunately it was too much for Sani who had to miss most of the celebration. Aiden Aiden & Shreya Dads and their girls  Birthday boy on the hayride
